    Frog Hollow Presents
Figuratively Speaking: the Artwork of John and Linda Whitney

As the final installment in a series of month-long exhibits in the gallery, Frog Hollow Manchester is pleased to present Figuratively Speaking: the Artwork of John and Linda Whitney. For the month of May, this exhibit will showcase the original figurative artwork and artwork for the figure by this Essex Junction, VT husband and wife creative team.

For over 35 years, Linda Whitney, in collaboration with John, has created wearable art jewelry, fabricated from brass, copper, nickel silver, polymer clay, stones, and beads to build polychromatic landscapes that tell complex stories, and excite the eye with juxtapositions of interesting textures and colors. Using fabrication, forming, repousse, and casting of metals combined with polymer clay that has been altered with pigments and dry point, the Whitney’s have been at the forefront of American metal-smith innovation.

In addition, John Whitney creates original art on paper and canvas inspired by the form, emotions, and expression of the figure. Having grown up in a family of noted artists, he became an accomplished sculptor, before switching to paintings, mono-prints and etchings as his medium of choice. His sculptural skills are still applied to the fanciful metalwork dancers and musicians that are featured in the Whitney’s line of jewelry. John and Linda exhibit their work in fine craft and art galleries through out the United States.

An artist reception will be held Saturday, May 10th from 4:30-5:30 in the gallery. Live music will be performed by Cafe Trio Budapest, and light hors d’oeuvres will be served. This event is free and open to the public. Please call the gallery at (802)362-3321 for more information.

The gallery is located at 4716 Main St. Manchester Center, VT
