Mastery of Color

Focus on classical techniques of applying color to the painting surface. This is an intensive, rigorous course in color, color layering, glazing and under painting—techniques often associated with the old masters of Renaissance and Baroque painting. Learn the logical structure and principles of watercolor painting and apply these to opaque media –acrylic paint in particular. Understand color as a structural element in painting, and gain facility and freedom in color application. Learn to discern subtle qualities such as viscosity, saturation and density. A deep and serious knowledge of paint, color, & color application will only enhance creative expression. By an immersion in the rigor of these classical
principles, we find ourselves freer to create the art we envision or dream. Materials list will be available upon registration.
