“Glass is an incomparable material. There is nothing quite like its brilliance,
texture and colors. I feel fortunate to
have been able to work for many years in my own studio with freedom to create
what I wish much of the time."
Fred Varney was born in
Springfield, Massachusetts; called the City of Homes, many of its fine houses
featured stained or leaded glass windows. He remembers noticing and looking for stained glass from an early age.
