GLASS Andrew Weill
Manchester Hot Glass

Andrew Weill is the proprieter if Manchester Hot Glass studio in Manchester, VT.
Even though he began working with glass at age 15 and completed a Fine Arts Degree in glass at Franklin Pearce College in New Hampshire, Weill was reluctant to accept any professional title until he had mastered the role of student. In 1995 Weill set off around the world to learn. He left a two year apprenticship with Jim Holmes in Cape Cod to take a job in Sweden, where he had the opportunity to travel around Scandinavia and eventually the rest of Europe by rail. "I spent time travelling from country to country watching, learning and in some cases getting the chance to make something at different glass shops and factories along the way" Weill explains."Having been thoroughly humbled by the experience, I returned to the States and to my roots in glass," he says.
"Throughout history, since the time of the Pharoahs, great things have been created in glass. Never losing site of that fact is what drives me to learn more and continually try to improve on what I do."
