JEWELRY Celie Fago
PMC Jewelry

Celie was originally a painter and sculptor, but a sensitivity to chemicals forced her to find a new medium. Now she works with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), commonly known as fimo or polymer clay; and precious metal clay (PMC), a clay-like material with silver suspension, which, when fired, transforms into solid silver. Celie designs intricate patterns when the PMC is soft. While she has adapted techniques from other media like pottery and metalworking, Celie has also invented a number of new approaches. She says that working in this relatively new medium provides “a palpable excitement, because you’re breaking new ground every day.”
Elegant design, resonant color, and attention to detail distinguish Celie Fago's jewelry. Her work combines Precious Metal Clay (PMC) with polymer clay and metal. She is highly regarded as a generous teacher and as an innovator in the combination of these materials. She is one of 7 Senior Instructors with the Rio Rewards Certification Program. In addition to numerous articles on PMC and polymer, she collaborated with Tim McCreight on the video, Push Play for PMC and with Georgia Sargeant on the book, Polymer Clay; Exploring New Techniques and New Material.
Her latest book, Keum-Boo on Silver, came out in July. Celie lives in central Vermont on her family's farm. She shares her cottage with Jennifer Kahn (her apprentice) and two Italian Greyhounds.
