GLASS Julia Brandis

Stained Glass Lamps

When selecting the glass for a design, Julia picks the colors and textures the same way a painter uses the paint on their palette. Since glass is a transparent media, she is very concerned with the interplay of light as it passes through the glass and is projected on to other adjacent surfaces and objects. Julia’s designs are all original limited editions influenced by themes from Art Nouveau and the Arts and Craft Movement.

She lives in southern Vermont, and her studio is nestled on the edge of a hemlock and pine forest beside a gentle rolling brook. The natural setting allows her to give uninterrupted attention to her art, as well as providing inspiration from nature.
