Bill Heise
Metal Sculpture

Bill Heise received his B.A. in Art Education from Buffalo State, and went on to teach art in Vermont high schools. After ten years, he left teaching to devote all his energies to his art. He has been working with found metal since 1967.
Bill works with discarded metal tools and shapes prevalent in the barnyards and hillsides of Vermont. The beauty of his work is that he is able to animate the inanimate; old, rusty, otherwise useless objects. He is careful not to overwork a piece; he seldom alters the object in use. The result is sculpture that shows a strong respect for the medium as well as the subject.
