FIBER ART Carol Crawford
Handweaver
"I am interested in color and movement in my weaving. I want to create fabrics that feel wonderful, and that become even more beautiful with age. I use the finest materials available - mercerized cotton, alpaca, rayon, wool, linen, and silk. In my rug warps, I use Irish linen, and in my wefts I use Maine wool."

Carol Crawford found an old barn loom near Snake Mountain in 1971, and has been weaving ever since. On that post and beam loom, she taught herself the rudiments of weaving and dyeing wool with natural plant dyes. Today, Carol weaves every day in her Vermont studio.
