GLASS/ JEWELRY Lucy Bergamini
Glass Jewelry and Vessels

.
For many years, Lucy and her assistants have been developing an intricate bead-making process. Colored glass is layered, blown into molds and formed into shapes by hand. The molten glass is pulled into a rainbow of tubes up to 20 feet long. Tubes are then sliced into different sizes and tumbled for several days, producing a smooth edge and polish. Latticino beads are made by applying thin rods or canes to gathers of molten glass, forming fascinating spiral patterns when the glass is twisted vigorously and pulled into a tube.
Lucy’s designs are inspired by the “mod” era of the early 1960s, Venetian craftsmen, celestial bodies, ancient myths and her garden. Her work is shown in galleries, museums and permanent collections throughout the world.
