Masks and Puppets Come Alive
Instructor: Steve Myott
This visual and performance art camp is designed to challenge and stimulate young imaginations. Participants will use recycled materials to create their own unique masks and inventive puppets. They will explore ways to develop a storyline, manipulate the puppets, and find expression through the use of the masks. The workshop will culminate in an original performance for family and friends. Steve Myott has extensive experience as a performing artist, director, and teacher. He was a public school arts teacher for 12 years, a theatre professor at East Carolina University, and a volunteer with the Bread and Puppet Theatre for several years. He has touched the lives of thousands of young people through his performances and workshops. Ages 6 and up. Bring a bag lunch.

Young Artists
Instructor: Susanne Peck
Here is an opportunity for creative youngsters to play and learn about drawing, painting and clay. Various projects will include drawing and painting from life (including outdoors) as well as pictures and the imagination. Examples of well-known masterpieces will be available for copying. Students will be encouraged to discover what they love. As they hand-build clay animals, pots, bowls, cups, vases, tiles and lots of wonderful things. Students will also be drawing and painting on clay. Please wear paint clothes and bring a lunch.

Drawing & Painting

Instructor: Susanne Peck
Do you love to draw? During this full week of drawing and painting learn about drawing animals, flowers, people, mountains, pets, and whatever you love. Subjects will be from real life and also from imagination. Students will be encouraged to really explore what they see and experiment with drawing techniques, color and composition. Students will work inside and outside, with pencils, colored pencils, crayons, pastels, watercolors and acrylics. Please wear paint clothes and bring a lunch.

Constructing with Nature

Instructor: Rachel Brewer
If you walk through the woods imagining fairies under each fern and trolls lurking behind fallen trees this is the class for you! Students will be using materials found in nature to create sculptures, fairy homes, gnome fortresses, and water gardens. Come ready to explore the woods around Frog Hollow and maybe get your feet a little wet.

Fiber Arts

Have you ever wanted to create your own costume but didn't know where to start? Or seen a bit of raw wool and wished you knew how to make it into felt? Or maybe you just want to have fun with natural tie-dying? It's messy work, but fiber art is fun and wearable!

Students will be using everyday items in unusual and creative ways. This workshop will explore glass, sculpture, painting, textiles and wood in new and different ways giving students a well rounded view of the arts.

Nothing But Glass

A little bit of history followed by a lot of hands on work with glass. Fusing, etching, mosaic and stringing with glass will fill this week of exploration.
